We spent the last 5 or so days in Payne's Prairie Preserve State Park, Florida.
Such a beautiful park and so full of animal life. The ranger station has a"sighting " board and almost everyday, on at least one of the trails, there was a sighting of a heard of bison, wild horses, alligators, red tailed hawk, and a few others.
We were lucky enough after many days of hiking and searching, to find a wild horse. It was so cool to be hiking along and see him just laying off in the distance.
We did lots of bike trails in Payne's Prairie and hoped we would find a gator, but I think it was too cold. When you enter the trails that are on the actual prairie you have to go through a "U" shaped space that is about shoulder width because they don't want the wild life coming off the prairie.
Sofia finished her "Florida Junior Ranger" packet while at the park.
The girls and I spent a morning in Gainesville at Univ. Of Florida, so that I could show them different places that I lived, some of my classrooms, the stadium, and we bought tickets for the girls basketball game later in the week. It was so cute too see them on campus with their backpacks. We went to the Reitz Union to do some school work with the rest of the students:)
On our last night we went to the Gator girls basketball game and it was a lot of fun! Sofia and Luna got to go down on court at the beginning of the game and give the players high fives as they came out to start the game. One of the best parts of the game for me was watching the band. The saxophone players in the front were so fun to watch. Albert and Alberta even came over to us during the game and hung out with us for a while. Alberta put her legs up on Sofia's lap :)
Pretty cool time in Gainesville.
