Holy Toot!

The wildfires of Washington meant we had to make a last minute change in our route and skip the Winthrop stop.  It was a bummer, but with only one road open in that direction we were nervous that we might get stuck up there, not to mention the air quality was not good.

We rerouted to the Leavenworth area and stayed at Wenatchee County Park.  The air was okay the first day, but then, depending on which way the wind was blowing, was not great.  The campground was okay.  Next to a busy highway, but quite a few trees and was well maintained.

We started our week out with our first day back to a little book work for the school year.  We were testing our some of our new material and seeing how we liked it.  The afternoon of our first day we went to Cashmere, WA.  The town is very small and has a candy factory that has been around for generations, called Aplets and Cotlets.  We took a tour and picked out a couple of boxes to take home.
Heading behind the scene for our tour.
We found out that evening that things were not looking good for my Meemaw, so we put our camper in the storage area of the campground, got plane tickets, and headed out the next morning for a flight to Florida.  We spent 2 weeks in Pensacola and were able to spend time with Meemaw, help take care of her and be there for her funeral.  She was 91 and had a great time in that body.

I know I have more recent pics, but couldn't find them :)
We got to spend time with family and friends while we were in town and on our last weekend we were able to enjoy our beautiful beach.  Ahhhhhh. Que Rico.

Someone was happy to be with her family.

It was a long journey back

After returning to our camper we learned that even though the fridge was running on propane while we were gone, it does require a small amount of battery.  Our battery didn't make it through the two weeks and I wore a mask while I dumped everything into the garbage.

After a major sleep-in, we went for an afternoon visit into the Bavarian Village of Leavenworth, WA.

It was a cute town with great hanging baskets of flowers all over the place.  The architecture was quaint and we enjoyed beautiful weather while we visited.  The air quality was much better after we had returned from Florida.

Must have some Barvarian ties.
