Coos Bay and an Eleven Year Old

We drove south and west back to the Oregon coast to Coos Bay/Charleston area.  We had a long drive, but once off the interstate it was very pretty.  Stopped for dinner at a side of the road food truck and had some yummy Mexican.

We made it to our campground pretty late, 9:30pm, to find out that Diego didn't have a signal at all! After all that research, the Verizon Coverage map failed us :(

When we arrived we were exhausted and it was a bad combo of being late at night, everyone tired, and Sofia's birthday the next day.  We stayed hitched and climbed into bed for a good nights rest.  

We were able to relocate the next morning to a county park a couple of miles up the road.  It wasn't nearly as nice of a park and we were even told to keep our bikes locked up because the locals will wander through looking for good stuff. It was a tough move, but we made it in the name of internet :)

Afterward we got settled at our new spot we celebrated Sofia's birthday with a little breakfast out

and an afternoon movie, Pan, in 3D.  We had gralic and olive oil prawns for dinner and a yummy Boston Creme cake for dessert.  She had a good day.

During the week we visited the nearby state parks, watched the seals out on the water, and visited some of the nearby towns.  It was pretty chilly and wet near the coast so the girls wanted to stay bundled up most of the time.  Paid Coos Bay a visit and walked a little ways down their boardwalk. It was about 10-15 degrees warmer inland.

This area was not our favorite stop.  Grey days, high humidity and cold.  Maybe a different time of year would have been nicer.  The ocean was beautiful.......the surrounding towns not so much.
