Joshua Tree

Leaving the California coast we headed inland toward Palm Springs to a city called Indio.  This town was picked based on campground and it's proximity to Joshua Tree National Park.

Coming into town there were miles and miles of windmills.  Lots of wind!

Spent a few days catching up on some school work, laundry, and swimming.

Then off to Joshua Tree National Park.

We entered on the south end of the park and drove up towards Skull Rock.  Climbed around a little bit.  We underestimated the weather and were all slightly underdressed.  The temps at our campground were 10-15 degrees warmer.

Hiked Braker Dam and Hidden Valley.  This has been my favorite desert park so far.  The Joshua Trees really add to the landscape.  I like plants and green, and these trees gave that to the desert.

Petroglyphs in the rocks.

We left the area with two more junior ranger badges and a little food in our bellies.

The girls and I did a tour through downtown Palm Springs.  Cute place.  Didn't take any pics :(
