We're in the South, Ya'll

There was an imaginary line from St. Louis to Nashville where the accent kicked in.  We drove through some back roads and a few hours later emerged to "Go gechu un".  It felt warm and fuzzy.....We're close to home :)

We stayed a night at a campground south of the city.  Spent a day roaming the city, went to Centennial Park to do a jog, played at the park and saw the Parthenon replica.  Had us some barbecue at Peg Leg Porker while checking out the Gulch area of the city.  Spent a little time at the kids science museum.  We camped that night at Henry Horton State Park.  Really nice campground.

Right around this time we were checking the weather up north and realized that it was still quite cold. We were planning to head east towards the Carolinas, but decided to head south to see our people in Pensacola. We camped a night on our way down at Oak Mountain State Park, just outside of Birmingham, AL.  We camped there back in 2009 on our first tent camping with the kids.  The tent area is much nicer than the RV sites, but still a pretty place.

We arrived to P'cola sometime in the early evening and knocked on dad and Lou's door.  Linda answered and was not sure what was happening.  She just backed up slowly before realizing that it was the girls the in front of her.  Dad couldn't stop saying "What the..." and when we go to Mimi, she said a word we can't repeat.

We had a fun week.  Seeing friends and family.

On to the north, we stayed in Auburn, AL our first night back on the road.  Chewacla State Park.  Nice park and very cool biking trails.

From Auburn headed north to Rome, GA.  Diego has a friend and previous co-worker there.

Chris Barr.... with a beard... took a little while to get used to :)

Cute little town and good southern food.  My dinner came with cheese grits and gouda mac and cheese. We stayed a couple of nights at Rome-Floyd Rec. area.  Pretty park with lots of trees and fresh, crispy weather.
