Flying through New Orleans

We spent one day in New Orleans because of our delay in Pensacola.  That was okay because we know that city, at least the french quarter, pretty well.
We stayed with family friends, the Lively's, who live in Slidell and commuted into the city during the day.

The weather the night we arrived was warm and muggy and when we woke up the wind coming off Lake Pontchartrain was intense.  A cold front had moved in over night and the temps were close to freezing.  After so many trips to New Orleans I have never experienced the French Quarter cold and quiet.  Jackson Square was deserted.

We dropped Diego off at PJ's Coffee Shop near Jackson Square and headed out for beignets.  We usually go to Cafe du Monde, but decided to try Cafe Beignet instead.  The beignets were equally delicious. We walked and ate our way through the quarter (wa wa eat eat :)) until we were full.

Most of the street musicians were huddle up at home, I guess, because the streets were unusually quiet.  The girls and I ended up on Royal Street hoping from art gallery to art gallery.  It was great for the crowds to be low for this kind of browsing because in some of the places the artists were there in the galleries alone and the girls got to ask questions.
