Back Home

We made it back to Pensacola!

We spent 3 1/2 weeks in Gulf Breeze and Pensacola and just left a couple of days ago.  A lot happened over those days, so I'm gonna do my best to remember.

I do remember that when we arrived on a Saturday evening there was beautiful sunset over the Garcon Point bridge.

We spent the first week with our great friends, who are family to us, the Shallards,  I wish I had taken a picture of our RV parked in front of their house, because all 33 feet of our camper took up what felt like the entire cul-de-sac, which was shared by 3 other houses :)  I thought it would be minutes before a neighbor complained, but we made it a week before we felt it was time to relocated the mother ship.

One of my very favorite nights was that week.  An adult-only night, with great company, out on the beach at Red Fish Blue Fish, a sunset, a fire pit, couches on the sand and drinks in hand.  It doesn't get much better than that.  It could have been slightly warmer, but then the firepit wouldn't have been needed, so it was great.

Also that week, a couple that we had met in Highlands Hammock SP, was passing through Pensacola. We took a day off of work and responibilities to meet up with them and give the tour.  The tour included the beautiful beach of course, Waffle House (they are Canadian and had not experienced that southern delicacy), downtown Pensacola (brewery, etc.), and finally a Westfalia-made dinner.  It was a great time and they are such great people to have met.

The area of the beach where we got married.
We were in town in time for Mardi Gras and we had a lot of fun at the Pensacola day parade.  The girls caught so much junk it was crazy.  It felt good to know that I could tell them that they can't keep it "because it weights too much."

We had a lots of child-less days the first week because of the grandparents, so we took a break from school work that week.  It was nice to have some time to catch up with friends and relax.
I don't think I did much productive the first week, but I do remember that the weather was awesome and that I was wearing shorts.  We even had a beach day and although I wasn't gonna get in the water, I know a few Jersey folks who would think it felt like summer.

When we relocated our home we went to our friend,s the Clarke's, house in East Hill.  Their front driveway is circular, so it was like our own pull-through site.  It was great being there and to hang out.  The kids had a blast too.

After that first week and all the sleepovers, we had a sick child and another one who was so cranky she couldn't even stand to be around herself.  We got back into a routine and helped everyone recover.

We realized some time in week two that we were eating our way through Pensacola.  So many new restaurants had popped up on the beach and in downtown that we felt it was our duty to try them out. Also we had our old favorites (Mandarin Moon, Cactus Flower, etc) that we had to have.

Besides eating out so much we had some great home-made meals with friends and family at their homes.  I think we cooked once or twice the whole time we were there.
Dinner with Meemaw and Mimi at Nick's Boathouse
Dinner with Grandpa and Lou Lou at Ozone Pizza
Weeks 3 1/2 was not planned and were due to a delay in our paperwork for our truck and camper registration.  We were able to fit in some things that we had thought we wouldn't have time to do. Our good friends, who own BRE Presents in Haddonfield, gave us tickets to one of our favorite shows that they were promoting in Pensacola......Tedeschi Trucks Band at the Saenger Theater.  What a great show!  Thank you Gina and Bill!!

I know I am forgetting some things and is why I need to jot things down each night, but I'll update the post as things come to mind.
Harrison is all smiles and Henry is saying "Hey, Mr. Day-go, .........."

We had a great "almost month" there and will miss everyone.  Thanks for your curb and driveway Shallards and Clarke's!
