We returned out rental car in Plymouth and caught the train back to London and then to Paris. It was a long day of travel, but we made it safely to Paris. Diego's cousins met us at the station and guided us to our new rental.
The apartment was great. Another great Airbnb experience. We were about a 30-40 minute metro or bus ride into the center of the tourist areas, which was great because when we went home in the afternoon we lived among the locals.
We were in Paris for 11 days and walked so, so much. We did a walking tour on our first day out and it was great for getting ideas of how to spend the rest of our time. Some of our stops were: to see Mona Lisa, the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, check out Louis' place at Versailles, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur, watched the Tour de France finish up, some museums, etc.

Getting out of the metro for the Tour du France, some kids tried to get into my backpack. They followed me off the subway and came up behind me just as I was exiting the doors so I wouldn't be able to chase them when the doors closed. All I felt was a tug on my sling bag. Thankfully Sherpani has an anti-theft zipper design that left the kiddos empty handed. Super cool.

Several evenings we spent with family and celebrated Peru's Independence day (July 28th) while we were there.

There were lots of booths set up around El Arc du Triumph for the Tour de France and Diego and Luna raced to the finish line on stationary bikes.
There was a famous cemetery (
Pere Lachaise) just around the corner from our apartment. Jim Morrison and many other famous people were buried there. It was a cool place to stroll and look around.
Down on the Seine River there are lots of fun games to play, lounge chairs, book check-out areas, water mist stations, and places to buy drinks. They have made their own little beach on the banks of the river. It's a great place to spend a few hours on a pretty day.
We had a run in with an ass in the metro system, but overall had a very good experience in Paris. The neighborhood where we stayed was very urban and friendly. We had grocery stores and Boulangeries all around us. So in the French style we ate our share of baguettes and croissants...... Another stereotype that is true......oh and body odor too :)
